Your words deserve clarity.
Effective August 27, 2026
The short version
WORDBAND stores what it needs to give you one shared Bible reading, preserve your progress, and connect you with people you deliberately accept. It has no ads, does not sell personal information, and does not turn your journal into a public feed.
What WORDBAND collects
- Account information such as your email address, authentication identifier, display name, and profile photo.
- Your friend code, requests, accepted connections, blocks, and reading-completion history.
- Your streak and yearly completion badge.
- Your journal answers and optional notes. These can reveal religious beliefs and are treated as sensitive information.
- Support messages and safety reports you choose to send.
- Limited technical and security information processed by our authentication, hosting, and storage providers.
How it is used
We use this information to authenticate you, deliver the daily reading, preserve your progress, show your profile to accepted friends, maintain the friend and journal features, prevent abuse, respond to support, and protect WORDBAND. Profile photos are visible only to accepted friends, who can discreetly report a photo if something appears wrong. Product-news email is optional and requires a separate choice in your Profile.
What friends can see
Accepted friends can see your display name, profile photo, current reading status, streak, yearly badge, and the reflections you save. A friend must finish that day’s reading before opening that day’s reflection. Friends accepted later cannot see entries you saved before the friendship began. Removing or blocking a person ends their access inside WORDBAND.
Service providers
Clerk processes authentication and account identifiers. Cloudflare-based infrastructure processes hosting, databases, private profile-photo storage, security, and delivery. These providers process information to operate WORDBAND under their own security and privacy commitments. We do not permit them to use your journal entries for advertising.
Retention and deletion
Account data remains while your account is active. You can delete individual journal entries and profile photos at any time. “Delete account and data” in Profile permanently removes your WORDBAND profile, journal, progress, photo, friend relationships, and authentication account. You can also begin from the public account-deletion page. Limited records may be retained only when reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, or a legal obligation, and will not remain visible to other users.
Your choices
You can edit your name, replace or remove your photo, remove or block friends, delete journal entries, withdraw optional email consent, or delete your entire account. To ask about access, correction, deletion, or privacy, use Support.
Age and safety
WORDBAND is not directed to children under 13. People under the age of legal majority should use it with a parent or guardian’s awareness. Never use a journal entry to share urgent safety information; contact local emergency services or a trusted adult when someone may be in immediate danger.
Changes
If this policy materially changes, we will update the effective date and present the new terms before asking you to share new journal content under them.
